Dear FACRL members,

The 2009 FACRL Fall program, “Blurring Boundaries: The Future of Library Cooperation in the 21st Century,” co-sponsored by the FLA Academic Libraries Member Group, is just around the corner and will be held in Winter Park at Rollins College, in the Galloway Room in Mills Hall, on Friday, October 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Erika Linke, Past President of ACRL 2009-2010. Presentations by Florida academic librarians include: expanding cooperative eResources licensing, utilizing a shared collection facility, and crossing the public/private divide.

We will be continuing our tradition of providing three scholarships to library students to participate in the program on a panel. They will discuss the next generation’s ideas for blurring boundaries and enhancing cooperation within a single library and between libraries of the same kind or of different types. If you attended last year’s program in Jacksonville and the previous year’s program in Ft. Myers, you will recall that the graduate students, our future colleagues, have many insightful and inspiring things to say to us! I am sure that this will be the case this year, as well.

The FACRL Board hopes that you mark your calendars and that you plan to attend what promises to be a great fall program. In addition to the all-day program on Friday, the FACRL Board and the Olin Library at Rollins will host an evening reception, sponsored by Blackwell, on Thursday, October 29, 5:30-7:00 p.m. During the reception we will launch our first ever poster session. Librarian colleagues will display and will be on hand to discuss such topics as outreach to international students, faculty awareness and utilization of eResources, and digital collection building! Don’t miss these events if you arrive on Thursday!

Registration information is available on the FACRL web site: http://facrl.fcla.edu/programs/programs.html. All are also invited to attend the FACRL Executive Board Meeting on Thursday, 4:00-5:30 p.m. in the Olin Library Bib Room.

See you at the 2009 FACRL Fall Program in Winter Park!
