College Center for Library AutomationNext-Generation LINCCWeb CCLA continues to develop and refine its next-generation LINCCWeb, the online library information portal used by students at Florida’s 28 community colleges. Ex Libris’ Primo software will serve as the foundation for the new LINCCWeb. CCLA plans to preview a beta version of the new LINCCWeb for community college library staff in late March, followed by a similar beta preview for college students beginning in April. Usability testing and focus groups with community college students and faculty to gather additional feedback about the product are also planned. LINCCWeb is available online at http://www.linccweb.org. New LINCCWeb Tools CCLA has activated a convenient new application that enables students to search the LINCCWeb catalog directly from their phones or other mobile devices. The new mobile application is available at http://mobile.linccweb.org. Also available for LINCCWeb is a compact toolbar that students can download to their web browser to keep library resources in view and easily accessible. It’s small, easy to use, and avoids the need to retype user IDs for repeat access. The toolbar is especially useful for libraries and faculty wishing to provide access to LINCCWeb from local course management systems. Visit http://www.linccweb.org/FAQs/toolbar.asp for more about the LINCCWeb toolbar. LINCC Library Management System On May 23, CCLA will upgrade LINCC’s library management system software from Aleph version 18 to version 19. A key feature of the enhanced software is a new course reserves module. CCLA will offer college library staff regional, instructor-led training on the course reserves module, along with cost effective webcasts on new/enhanced functionality available in the upgraded software. Awards CCLA has received the Southeast Florida Library Information Network’s (SEFLIN) Innovation Award for its recent collaboration and successful implementation of LINCCWeb single sign-on capabilities at Palm Beach Community College.
